For various agility programs dogs have to be measured at the trial to be sure they are in the correct jump height class. After you are measured a few times, you do not need to be measured again for that organization.

Griffin and I did our first AKC trial over the summer – his measurement put him in the 20″ jump class. At our second trial he measured 24″ and had to jump higher for that event. Because the measurements were different due to Griffin being very close to the in-between line, we were told to get a third measurement.  And…at our third trial he measured as 20″ – I was very relieved!  He could jump the extra 4″ but he really doesn’t need to.

Last week I got two letters from the AKC. One letter was our “PermanentDSC_0323 jump height card” showing Griffin as a 20″ jumping dog.  One letter said that at our last trial he was not eligible to jump 20″ and had to jump 24″ – one of our runs/legs had been removed from the records. I was very worried!

I sent an email and AKC was able to resolve it within a few days – he is a 20″ dog, we were given back our legs from the last trial and everything is fine now!
