Last month the training center hosted our first UKI agility trial – and our first agility trial of any type. We had a great team of help and a great small group of exhibitors who helped make it a success. In the end, it felt more like a party than an actual trial as everyone was so patient and it was rather laid back.
We had a great time hosting. We had many students participate and many people who are new to the facility also attended.
I ran both Griffin and Tonks. In one of the classes they’re at the same level and it was fun to run both dogs on the same course!
While Griffin isn’t my first dog to do agility – I’m happy he was part of our first event and that we were able to have many great runs. Tonks is very new to trialing and it was interesting to see the similarities and differences of running at a familiar location vs the other places we sometimes go for trials.
Hosting events is a little scary – making sure we have all the right supplies, teams, paperwork, and systems in place. The person who designed the software program was great at walking us through everything we needed to know and the UKI team was great about patiently answering all of our questions that came up throughout the process.
By the end of the evening we were excited about our next opportunity and now have one scheduled for mid-February.
