This book was on clearance when I was purchasing something else. I’m really liking the short single-topic books that Dogwise has been putting out.  It makes things more readable, it’s nice to get an indepth look at one specific topic.  And I feel a lot better about saying “Go and get a copy of this book and read it,” than I do about “Go buy this really giant book so you can read the first half of one chapter!”

There wasn’t anything new or exciting. It seemed to pull a lot from David Mech, Roger Abrantes and Ray Coppinger.   It was nice for a lot of the stuff to be in one place.  The book was well organized and well layed out.  It was a nice quick read and not repetitive.

The drawback? It felt like there were too many points where opinion or biased perspective were expressed rather than a compilation of information/research.   For the most part (if not completely), I agree with the author, however if I were looking at the book from the perspective of someone who had very different views about dogs….  I’d find the book very laughable.

This is something I’ll probably recommend to those who are struggling (but not committed!) with the perception of common dog behavior problems are related to dominance in our domestic dogs.    I don’t think it’s something I’ll refer back to often, but I am glad I’ve read it.
